Kitchen bar tables – are often quite heavy and expensive pieces of wood that will stand for years of use and abuse. Even the toughest wood will show signs of wear over time, however. Wet rings from sweating glasses and scratches and dents are all common table damage. Instead of throwing out the table when the damage begins to destroy the desktop looks, consider resurfacing the kitchen bar tables. Sanding and varnishing will breathe new life into your table.

Unscrew the top of the table if possible. Move the upper or the entire table to a well-ventilated place. Do not use lacquer thinner or in confined spaces. Spread an end-product removal of the table using a brush. Let it sit on the surface for the recommended amount of time before scraping away the finish with a trowel.

Apply liquid stripper to the exposed wood with a fine steel wool brush to remove the last bits of finish. Remove the stripper with paint thinner. Sand down the kitchen bar tables using a belt sander, to pay attention to dents or nicks in the wood. Do not spend too much time grinding deep dents as this will create an uneven surface.

Apply sealable wood filler to deep dents; smooth the application with putty to fill dents. Spread it on a clean surface after sanding. Paint the table with several applications of glory and apply a surface wax of gloss to finish the resurfacing process.
